Look who’s watching

I remember the time we watched a football game intently. Beautiful weather and it was the first game my son got to suit up even though he was one of the youngest players. We enjoyed the excitement of the game. The band played wonderfully and we would yell as the cheerleaders led us. The two teams were moving up and down the field and the scoreboard was changing, but our attention was focused somewhere else. He went out for football, worked hard, trained and made the team. Our son’s team was playing that night.  But our eyes were in one particular place and on one particular person. No, he did not get to play that night because he was on the second string. But he was the star of the game for us. We were so proud as we watched our son, not to observe every mistake he made, but we watched him because we loved him very much. The Bible says that God looks at us in the same way (1 John 3:1). It says we are or can be the Apple (very center) of His eye (Psalms 17:8). When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior, we become very special to Him, we become His children (John 1:12). Psalms 33:18-21 tell us about the benefits of that special relationship. As we start the new year of 2026 let us make God the center of our life. See you in Church next Sunday. Brother J
